FDT GROUP CERTIFIES FIRST
FDT 3.0 DTM FROM FLOWSERVE CORPORATION

Introduction

FDT Group is an international, non-profit corporation led by major global companies active in the industrial automation industry. FDT supports applications for standardized sensor-to-cloud and enterprise-wide integration that transforms into a complete, standardized Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). As the industry continues to grow, FDT-enabled systems are becoming more data-centric and mobile-friendly while maintaining support on new and existing automation infrastructure through a smart connected automation ecosystem of integrated machines and devices with its secure platforms.

What is FDT Technology and how does it work?

FDT’s open integration of control system and instrumentation provides a single interface platform for open data exchange between field devices and automation systems. This allows open data exchange between field devices and automation systems independent of the networks used, which reduces integration costs and technology investments. The FDT 3.0 unified environment (UE), is a complete platform-independent server data-driven cloud-based solution. The FDT standard is globally adopted by IEC 62453, ISA 103, and GB-T 29618-2017, with millions of Device Type Managers (DTMs) in use.

The FDT technology’s open and unbiased approach empowers you to integrate any manufacturer, protocol, or device easily, providing limitless possibilities for flexibility and adaptability for control systems. Automation and Control projects are easily implemented as the end-users won’t have to search FDT/DTMs for individual field devices. All certified DTMs are located in the FDThub DTM repository and available for automatic download and installation, allowing the integration of different devices from different manufacturers into one network. Its unique collaboration platform supports a robust networking integration, allows for integration advantage, includes transition to the latest IIoT and industry 4.0 solutions, enables universal device and network integration, protects investments in legacy technology, and ensures greater confidence through built-in security.

FDT 3.0 and Flowserve Logix 3800 Smart Positioners

Flowserve Logix 3820 Series Smart Positioner is the first device-specific DTM-based to be certified by FDT 3.0. The newest certified Flowserve Logix 3820 Series DTM is deployable using positioners supporting HART 6/7, tackling flow control challenges designed for modern IIoT architectures. The FDT 3.0 specifications benefits both the end-user and the manufacturer by performing device commissioning, calibration, running diagnostic signatures, and gathering device information through the web server and the FDT 3.0 Implementation. This real-time data will allow accelerated actions, such as “preventative maintenance/diagnostics” to maximize uptime and safety. The FDT 3.0 user interface can be customized depending on the device’s utilization to show details and diagnostics for optimized performance.

To check if your equipment is FDT 3.0 Compliant, please check: FDT DTM – FDT Group. This list contains equipment that has been certified as compliant with the FDT 3.0 specification. If your equipment is not listed as FDT 3.0 compliant, please contact the manufacturer for further information.

FDT Accredited Test Sites are equipped with the new FDT 3.0 dtmINSPECTOR5 test tool and are ready to accept new FDT 3.0 device DTMs for testing and certification. FDT DTM certification to the FDT 3.0 specification and UI is a process where rigorous compliance testing using dtmINSPECTOR5 ensures the viability of the states of the DTM; its correct installation, de-installation, and multi-user environment capability; mandatory and optional user interface functionality and robustness; network scanning communication performance and the ability to import and export the topology; and the audit trail capability.
